0057 Sermon on the plain

Today we wrap up Luke 6 by examining the sermon Christ delivered to His disciples on the plain.  To summarize, this message addresses our physical walk of life while living in the spiritual kingdom of God that He has called us into.  So, that begs the question: how is the physical aspect of life interconnected with the spiritual?  Well, let’s study the scriptures to find out.

We’re still in Luke 6, and Jesus is about to choose His 12 apostles from among all the disciples.  So, what is an apostle?  What was their role?  Do we still have apostles today?  These are many of the questions we will discuss and answer in today’s episode.  So, open your Bibles and let’s study the word of God.

0055 Discipleship 2 - Pharisees

As we begin Luke 6, the Pharisees become the predominate focus of the scripture.  Today, Lord willing, I want to piggyback our discussions with the truths we learned about discipleship just a few lessons ago.  If we’re not careful to possess a balanced Christian life, as we previously discussed, I’m afraid our spiritual lives begin to resemble the Pharisees more than what God intended for us to be.  So with that in mind, let’s examine these Pharisees.

0054 Jesus the Bridegroom

Last time together, we briefly (and I mean ever so briefly) discussed the biblical truth that Jesus is the bridegroom.  What exactly does that mean?  Well, the Bible has much to say regarding this topic so open to Luke 5 and let’s study the word of God.

0053 Discipleship 1

Many biblical truths unfold before our eyes in the final verses of Luke 5.  Here we find three different groups of disciples presented; therefore, one of those truths is discipleship.  So, just what does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus Christ?  Well, let’s study the word of God and see what the New Testament teaches us.

0052 Healing

Jesus progresses with His earthly ministry, and here in Luke 5 we find several instances of healing for the citizens of Israel.  We also learn that their physical need for healing is directly connected to their spiritual condition.  So, today, the truths of the Old Testament come directly into view as we learn what these healings have to teach us.  Let’s get started.

0051 Forsaking All

Today, in Luke 5, Peter along with James and John Zebedee are called to follow Christ in the most peculiar way.  As a result, they forsake all and follow Him.  So, just what does it mean to forsake all?  Well, let’s turn to Luke 5 and study the word of God together.

Today we close out Luke 4 and the idea of ministering is the prevalent topic throughout the final verses of this chapter.  In fact, four “ministers” can be found in this chapter so what do they have to tell us?  Well, open your Bibles and let’s find out.

0049 Jesus at the Synagogue

We’re in chapter 4 of Luke, and we find Jesus returning to Nazareth from the wilderness where he visits the Synagogue and announces to all those present who He really is.  Who is He according to this chapter?  He’s the fulfillment of Isaiah 61.  So, let’s contextually examine this entire passage to receive a blessing in the truths it holds. 

0048 Jesus' Temptation

Jesus has now been baptized, and His earthly ministry has officially begun.  What’s the first thing on the agenda for Him?  He must be tempted and proved.  This is a biblical principle for all those in “spiritual leadership” … they must first be proved (1 Timothy 3:10).  So, open your Bibles and let’s examine Jesus’ temptation by the devil.

0047 Genealogies

0044 Youthful Passover

On today’s episode we examine the story that is solely unique to the Gospel Luke.  It’s the first Passover Jesus Christ observed, and He’s only 12-years old.  Then, immediately following, Joseph and Mary can’t find Him for 3 days.  Only 12 verses possess these events, but they are absolutely loaded with truth.  

0043 Visiting Jerusalem

Today we cover verses 21 – 40 of Luke chapter 2 where Joseph and Mary visit Jerusalem.  These verses speak of Jesus’ circumcision and Mary’s obedience to God’s law in offering a sacrifice concerning her recent delivery of the baby Jesus.  Furthermore, two additional people are introduced into the story, who are none other than Simeon and Anna.  A lot of grand truths are presented in these verses so let’s not waste any time and get started.
